Background & Services
Dr. Youngstrom has 20+ years of expertise in assessing ADHD, learning disorders, mood and anxiety. She welcomes and affirms clients of all identities and backgrounds. Dr. Youngstrom greatly enjoys helping people understand themselves through psychological and educational assessments, while providing resources and accommodations to help them succeed.
In addition to conducting assessments in private practice, she has been teaching and supervising graduate students learning assessments in the clinical psychology doctoral (PhD) program at University of North Carolina Department of Psychology and Neuroscience for more than 15 years, and she currently serves as the Director of Assessment and Clinic Services and Clinical Professor. Dr. Younstrom has won awards for her clinical supervision at UNC on multiple occasions (2023, 2015, 2012).
Prior to working at UNC, Dr. Youngstrom was the Director of Training and Psychological Services in a large community mental health facility in Cleveland, Ohio. She has continuously been an investigator in research grants regarding evidence based assessment and intervention and transporting these assessments and treatments into the community. She is married to an assessment guru (Eric Youngstrom, PhD), has two daughters who are recent Tar Heel graduates, and loves traveling and walking her dog in the woods and at the beach.
